Run her XP on safe mode or go to MS command prompt, you can delete the files that way.

Whether XP or Windows 98, she can always get into command prompt even Windows 95!!!  It's similar steps to get into as XP, once you get her there you are in good shape!

That's always an option but all of us would avoid it at all cost right?  lol...it takes the whole day to set everything straight.

Hehe I know what you mean. I used to run a computer business and it seemed like everyone and their mother just wanted a reformat...my best record was 8 reformatted computers in a day ^_^ That was about 7 or 8 years ago though, all of a sudden, a friend showed up and wants me to reformat her HD on friday /cringe.

Anyhow, back to topic...I would def. save the reformat for the last resort, thats why "when all else fails, reformat" Tongue Check those sites, there's also alot of good antivirus / spyware programs you can use 30 day free trials to get rid of it, just need to look for them. Download the software, use it, uninstall it ^_^ cheap but effective

Heh...very nice.  8 reformats, that's a record!  I can only do one and after that I'm done for the day I guess half of the time I'm just wanting to make sure that everything is going to be fine, lol...

Hey your lucky I got on. I know how to remove this. Haha I like viruses that infect the Operating systems Tongue.

Alright I am going to give a couple of steps to see how bad it is infected. Mainly because Zlob can download and install malware on your computer.

One Download this anti-virus. It's the best free one online, I have it myself. It's called avast anti-virus. Note you will have to Register to use, it's free.

Link:
Code:
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

It will ask you to restart your computer. Click Restart later. It will ask you to do a Scheduled BIOS Scan on the next restart, CLICK YES. Then go to start-run. A window will come up. Type in msconfig.exe. Another window will pop-up called the System Configuration utility. On the taps click startup. You will see a list of startup programs that will run everytime your computer is restarted. Look for nvctrl.exe or an infected file called msmsgs.exe. UN-CHECK THEM. If you see C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe UN-CHECK that as well. Then click apply then close. A window will pop-up and say "You must restart so the settings will take affect. CLICK EXIT WITHOUT RESTART.

Then go to start-run. A window will pop-up. type regedit.exe. Delete these two Registry values.

# HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRunRegSvr32=%System%msmsgs.exe
# HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsNTCurrentVersionWinlogonShell=explorer.exe

Once that is done, restart your computer. Avast will start a BIOS Scan. AKA it will scan ALL the FILES EVERY SINGLE ONE. When you run a virus scan while running there are some files that are hidden that can contain viruses. This will find them. Stay by the computer it won't take long.

If this does not help Download Spybot Search and Destroy. Make sure you do what it says and once it's done CHECK FOR UPDATES. Then click search for problems. Once it's done click fix problems and you should be fine. Heres the link for Spybot Search and destroy.

If that doesn't work, tell me I know more ways
