killing hollows

they said at the first of the show that you had to split a hollows mask to kill it but recently they haven't i mean just last episode the were killing meno's without splitting the mask's whats up with that? they haven't changed they are still hollows so you should have to kill them the same.

i don't know. it could be one way to kill for other hollows and another way for menos.

I mean a blow to the head is a sure way to kill me but I would die just the same if I was cut in half. I think that was the idea who ever was teaching Ichigo was telling him of the sure way to kill the hollows. Maybe some hollows can regenerate from only their mask or something. Also Menos are generic and probably do not have any regenerative abilities.

but thats kinda stupid i mean menos are just a lotta hollows to form one giant hollow so shouldn't the same laws apply¿

i think that rukia told him to cut the head in half to aviod the mask cracking and him seeing someone like orihime's brother. also i think that when she was teaching him he wasnt very good at fighting hollows and she wanted him to kill them in one swipe to the head, since that is probably the easiest way to kill them. but as he got stronger, he could just swpie anywhere and they would be dead. same when we started having some stronger characters.
