I actually kinda like it Hitsu. As for black being "too simple" even if you have the best and latest tech. sometimes using basics is better. For me, I like the black in the background because it looks more like he's burning his way through darkness, or that he's a shining light in a sea of pitch black. . . thats just me ^^ I give it a 5/5.
P.S. over-doing it is worse IMHO than going "too simple" I'd rather look at something simple and moving than something high-tech and glittery that just looks like any regular old image ^_^

i think that the 1st one is better cuz the 2nd one really hurts my eyes with the brighter colors and the overall design of it...the 1st one is more mellow and is easier on the eyes
