How heavy is Zangetsu?

well i'm thinking it goes something like this,

since zangetsu is ichigo's zanpaktou, zangestu is like his...and only his...it prolly feels like it weighs just the right weight for him to swing it around comfortably but not get tired from doing it...the wieght prolly doesnt change from shikai to bankai since ichigo has 1 comfortable weight for zangetsu to be...

i bet that if someone else were to hold zangetsu, even if they were buff, it would feel a lot heavier to them than it does to ichigo...

...or it could just be that ichigo is strong as hell...in any ep where u see him without a shirt one...man this kid is BUFF!

Well yea, he is quite buff, remember, the Zanpakuto's first appearance matches the person's fighting style. He's probably more of the aggressive and quick striker style, that's why it's huge. Well since he was more of a striker back then and continued to be, Zangetsu came to a comfortable weight when he first got it. Later on, he wanted to be able to strike faster and gained a bankai that allowed him to, it's not the weight in this matter but more of the size. While using his Shikai Zangetsu was awkward but powerful, his bankai was powerful, but the awkwardness was eliminated, like i said, it's more on size, not weight, no-one in Bleach cares for a weapon's weight.

Zangetsu is a extension of ichigos soul to him it would be like lifting nothing almost they explain this somewhere in teh story i think i just forget where but to anybody else Zangetsu would be super hard to lift the only shinigami known to have used another shinigamis weapon is tousen

when did they say that tousen used someone else's zanpaktou?

Tousen has never used another person's Zanpakuto EVER! the only one known to ever even touch another person's Zanpakuto would be Zaraki vs Tousen, Zaraki caught Tousen's sword, since Tousen's reiatsu was miniscule compared to Zaraki, Tousen's would feel no heavier than Zaraki's own Zanpakuto.

Also when you say it's an extension of the soul that much is true, making it practically nothing is actually untrue, an extension of ourselves would still have some weight, same principle with their swords. They're usually at a comfortable weight, depending on how much power is in the weapon. Thus makes Izuru's weight increase ability possible, otherwise, on joemac's theory, impossible.

And also, like i said, the weight has no bearing unless you're up against Izuru, only size until you fight Izuru. Imagine swinging something around like Zangetsu, comfortable? no? thought so

Anyways, that still doesnt really prove anything, his zanpakuto's size is basic, meaning basic weight. Also this has no revelance to the issue at hand...

Zangetsu isnt as heavy as you might think. i have both of ichigo's swords. im a collector of swords, knives and daggers. and as soon as i got into bleach i wanted his swords. i have his sheiki and his bankai swords. his bankai is long as hell its 68" inches long. it takes me two hands to hold it. his sheiki is very light. there are starting to release more swords from the anime, im currently trying to collect them all.
