well i think that PS CS3 would be good since it is the most recent version...but it all depends on how u like it...if u like it more simple i think that the older versions would be better...depends Wink

CS 2 is fine too if you are not using it professionally. It has almost all the same stuff as 3 and what it doesn't have you won't miss.

If you are just doing sigs and walls and hobby stuff PS7 works too. Cheaper, stable and totally workable. Even comes with Image ready bundled to do animations and other effects.

I use CS3 but I make my living with that program. Wink

I advise you get Photoshop CS3 Extended. He says it is simpler, but you have to realize that they have created more effects that you can use. Also CS# is more complicated then CS and CS2.

I got that CS web bundle. I'm NOT well versed in the programs except PS so it's been a bit intimidating.

I still say the only tool one would miss at the hobby level in PS 7 is the Warp and the ability to see the fonts in samples before use. Other than that it's a pretty sweet program for general purposes.

Also if you don't have hundreds of $ to toss away look into gimp. A lot of people really like it. Mostly those who don't use PS as they are not yet hooked into a specific interface.
