my question is where are the bankais from the vizards? Where are the bankais from the older captains? They were getting their butts kicked with the arrancar and yet they didnt go all out.

Well some of them must have questionable bankais or unfavorable bankais. Like Soi Fon didn't use her's because she doesn't like it. Kyouraku(or however you spell it I never could remember) doesn't use his because it seems that his would be inappropriate to use in that situation according to Ukitake.

The vizards against Starrk thought they could take him without it but were then surprised i think. And after that Shunsui already took it over again. The ones against Harribel were still doing fine.
