Ikkaku’s story lends itself perfectly to expanding on his connection to Zaraki Kenpachi. Zaraki Kenpachi is the quintessential example of the miyamoto musashi archetype and should not be overlooked… If there is a better example of this personae it would be hard to prove. However, Kurosaki Ichigo is on a similar path , but his age and experience do not lend themselves towad this level of being at this time of the narrative.

If these were fillers they would not be advancing Aisens plot. That being said I think these episodes have been awesome. We finally get to see Rukias zanpakto. And Ikkaku shows his true strength.

um these aren’t fillers guys, do you think they’d go this deep into the story with fillers, them talking about the bounto and nova,ririn, and claud lines are all just put in for the episodes so it makes it seem like a more connected stoyline.
